808Stateを書いてるときに、そんな映画あったなと思い出して、借りてきますた。マッドチェスターのバンド勢ぞろい、だと勝手に思ってたけど、実際はジョイ・ディヴィジョンとハッピー・マンデーズの物語といっていい内容でした。
それでもイアン役やベズ役の動きが似すぎてたり、ショーン・ライダーの腐れっぷりもよく描かれてて笑えました。その辺少しでも興味ある人はとりあえず見とくべき。

1976年。イギリスの工業都市マンチェスターで、セックス・ピストルズの初ライヴが行なわれた。その客の中にいたテレビのレポーター、トニー・ウィルソン(スティーヴ・クーガン)は、ファクトリー・レコードというレコード会社を設立。ジョイ・ディヴィジョンが人気バンドとして成功の兆しを見せるが、80年、ヴォーカルのイアン・カーティス(ショーン・ハリス)が首吊り自殺。だが残りのメンバーは新メンバーを加え、ニュー・オーダーとして活動。大ヒット・シングルを出して成功する。ファクトリーは、ハシエンダという大型クラブを作り、世界中に注目されることに。そこのスター・バンドになったのは、ハッピー・マンデーズ。レイヴ・カルチャーがブームとなり、マンチェスターはマッドチェスターと呼ばれるようになった。しかし91年、名物プロデューサーのマーティン・ハネット(アンディ・サーキス)が心不全で急死。急速にブームが去り、ファクトリーは倒産。その最後の夜が終わったあと、トニーは屋上で神の姿を見るのだった。
